For several years the McGrath Computer Learning Center sponsored the Tablet Users Group (TUG) as a way to help people learn about and make the most of their tablets (iPads and Androids). The objective is for group members to learn from each other. Those who are new to tablets can learn the basics. Those who are seasoned users are encouraged to share techniques and apps that they have discovered. All are finding that tablet computers are turning out to be much more useful than any of us imagined. Many people thought they were just toys, until they learned that they could check email, weather, news, etc. on their tablets rather than sitting at a desktop PC, waiting for it to boot up. (Note: if you are not sure what operating system your tablet uses, check it in this list of tablets.)
The TUG met periodically at the McGrath Computer Learning Center, on the USC Aiken campus (between the tennis courts and the softball field) or occasionally at the Aiken Public Library. People are encouraged to come, bring their tablet, show others what they do with it, and try to help people with questions or technical problems. We break into groups, so those with like tablets can learn from each other. To see the kinds of things the TUG discusses, you may read reports from previous meetings here.
This is a free offering to the Aiken adult community. There is no need to reserve a spot. Just come join us.
Check the Current News and Announcements section of the home page for dates, times and locations of scheduled meetings should TUG be re-activated. Note: TUG has not met since February 2016.
